What size should I choose?

Have you worn HOKA before?
- Have you worn other HOKA GTX models before? Choose a half size smaller.
- Have you worn Bondi or Clifton before? Choose your usual size.

First time wearing HOKA?
Haven't worn HOKA before? We recommend going up half a size.

Fit
Challenger 8 GTX has a roomy toe box, giving your toes plenty of space.

Hoka shoes generally run a little small, so we find that many people choose half a size larger than in other brands. For example, if you wear size 38 in other brands, we recommend choosing size 38 2/3 in Hoka shoes. We recommend following our size guide below, which is based on how Hoka shoes fit.

Wide models
Wide models are marked "wide" in the product name and are 3-4 mm wider in the upper.

Most Hoka models fit quite similarly in length, but there are a few exceptions:

  • Hoka Bondi SR
  • Hoka Mach 6 and 7
  • Hoka Cielo X1 (2.0 & 3.0)
  • Hoka Speedgoat 7
  • Hoka Tecton X 3 and Tecton X 4
  • Hoka Rocket X 3
  • Hoka Skyward X 2
  • Hoka Speedgoat 7
  • Hoka Mach X 3
  • Hoka models with Gore-Tex (does not apply to Challenger 8 GTX)
  • Hoka lifestyle models

Haven't worn Hoka shoes before?
Then we recommend going up one full size in the models listed above.

Have you worn Hoka shoes before?
Then we recommend going up half a size in the models listed above compared with your usual Hoka size (Bondi etc.)

NOTE: Some models feel large (applies only to women's models) for these models, we recommend choosing your usual shoe size.

  • Hoka W Clifton 10
  • Hoka W Arahi 8
  • Hoka W Arahi SR
  • Hoka W Challenger 8

We recommend following our Hoka size guide:

  1. Place a measuring stick on the floor, right next to a wall.
  2. Place your foot on the measuring stick with your heel against the wall and measure the length of your foot.
  3. Use the table below to find the right size based on your measurement in cm.

Hoka Challenger 8 GTX

The all-round Challenger has established itself as a popular favorite for those who want to move freely across varied terrain. With the upgrades to the Challenger 8, Hoka has made the shoe even more reliable and comfortable as a hybrid shoe – now also with a GORE-TEX upper.

What’s new with the Challenger 8 GTX?

The Challenger 8 has 3 mm of extra cushioning in the heel, increasing the drop from 5 to 8 mm and contributing to better pressure relief and comfort. Softer midsole foam is combined with an updated last that provides a slightly wider fit and more room in the toe box.

Updated GTX upper
The upper is designed with comfort and protection in mind. The heel counter, featuring Hoka’s anatomical Achilles construction, gently wraps around the foot, while GORE-TEX Invisible Fit keeps your feet dry in all weather.

The outsole has been improved with a softer rubber compound and an updated lug design for better grip on uneven terrain.

In summary: more comfort, a better fit, improved grip and waterproof protection – the Challenger 8 is an all-round shoe ready for adventure whatever the weather.
